Snazzy Sweater Season

Hello, my loves!

This weather sure is something, Saint Louis. That is about all I can say anymore. 50 degrees one day and 20 the next. I'm all confused about what to wear! The worst part is that when I leave for work in the afternoon, I'm all warm and cozy. By the time I close work and head home (between 8:30-9:30 generally), it's back to being cold! There's a blanket in my backseat for a reason.

Last week I was out and about running errands, and meeting up with a newfound friend. She DJs occasionally around town, and I wanted to get to know her more as I've started to teach myself! The boyfriend DJs weekly, and as I love music, and am around so many DJs as it is, I thought it would be fun to learn as well. It's not super easy, but I've spent many an hour searching for music and playing with the controller that my boyfriend lent to me.

When I run errands, I like to be comfortable, but still show off my funky side, of course! I found this sweater at Savers Thrift Store in Crestwood last month. It's just the right amount of warm and snuggly with a dash of weirdness. I'm not even sure what the print is! Its cool versus warm color scheme went well with my navy American Apparel disco pants. Let me tell you, American Apparel's disco pants are some of the most bizarre pants I own (I have the navy and the imperial purple.). They are a nylon-spandex blend, and they feel AMAZING on, but the act of actually getting them on should be a competitive sport. The navy pair are especially difficult to get into, because they are a size small. The website recommends ordering a size down, so when my parents asked what I wanted for my birthday this past year, I told them a size small in the navy. Once these puppies are on, I don't want to/am barely able to take them off.

The boots I'm wearing are some of my most-favorite shoes ever! These are from Leopard Boutique in Webster Groves. I finally jumped on the knee-high boot bandwagon last fall, and boy am I glad I did! These beauties are very comfortable and command a lot of attention. It's hard to take a picture of the back of your own legs, so I tried to show off, to the best of my ability, the stud and buckle detailing on the back of the boots. They're fabulous.

Besides fun outfit photos, I have a few other matters to mention...

The first is that I attended Lindsay Pattan of Alive Magazine and Heartland Underdog's Business of Blogging 101 workshop this morning. She's an incredibly valuable resource for bloggers in Saint Louis. She talked us through the basics of building brand relationships, pitching our work to potential brand affiliations, and how to create an income from your blog. I was able to meet a handful of other STL-based bloggers, and I'm coming for you, ladies. I'm about to go on a bloglovin' followin' spree right now! I learned a lot, and attended a little meeting after the workshop regarding traveling to New York Fashion Week in September with Lindsay. I talked to my mom, and she's agreed to help me pay for the cost as my birthday/Christmas gift this year! I admit I'm not the most (high) fashion-obsessed amongst us, but it's a chance to visit the big apple again, take part in a girls' trip, and really network and build my identity. I'm ready, let's do this. 2014 is going to be an amazing year!!!

The second thing to mention is that I've begun a working relationship with a friend of mine. He is going to start taking photographs for my blog! No more crappy-tripod-in-my-gangway photographs! He's a sweetheart, and a delight to goof off with, so I know the images he will make will be wonderful. We met up in the Loop for a coffee and for our first fun photoshoot. I'm very excited to share with you the lovely snaps he caught! However, my work style photos will still be me and my tripod, as I cannot expect anyone to offer to drive 30mins just to take a darn photograph of me while at work.

The third is to remind everyone about tomorrow's Jamberry Nails event at Leopard Boutique. I'll be there about 12:30 for the fun! I would love to see another blogger pal or two there as well. You can find more information about the event on this post I made last week, or visit the Facebook event page as well. Who can say no to non-toxic nail wraps, fashion, food, and drinks?! Not this girl!
