Midweek Mani: Valentine Style & Big News!
Happiest of Hump Days, my loves! I hope your week has been going smoothly/quickly/productively!
I have a mani to show you, as well as some big news! Make sure to scroll to the bottom!
I wanted to share a sweet little loosely-themed Valentine's Day mani with you. I've been on the hunt for the perfect white nail polish to use in nail art, and as undercoats for neon polishes - neons work best with a white base to amp up their intensity. I picked up Essie's Blanc in Walgreens last week, and wanted to give it a shot. Although I do love a crisp, white manicure, I'm obviously addicted to dots if you saw my Mani Monday post from this week. Since Valentine's Day is this weekend, and my boyfriend and I celebrated last night, I knew I wanted something that said "sweet and sassy," but wasn't too in-your-face for the holiday.
If you follow me on Pinterest, you might have seen my pin from an article about "lazy girl nail art." A super duper easy way to make dots and not have to buy any fancy utensils is to use a bobby pin! Why hadn't I thought of that before?! The tips of the bobby pins are already round, so they make near-perfect dots, unlike some brushes and tools. After I'd applied three coats of Blanc, I dripped
Sinful Colors' Folly (an all-time favorite raspberry red) and Julep's Sienna (shimmery molten gold) onto a piece of aluminum foil. I tapped the larger end of a bobby pin into Folly and lightly dotted it onto each nail. I wiped off the tip with a piece of paper towel lightly soaked in polish remover to carefully remove Folly from the pin. Then, I repeated with Sienna. Ta-da! All done! I waited a few minutes before sealing the colors with Seche Vite's top coat, as always.
As for my big news (drumroll, please!), I'll be appearing on Show Me St. Louis this Friday!!! Show Me St. Louis is a news segment on KDSK every weekday morning at 10am. It showcases and highlights food, fashion, and fun in the St. Louis region. When I lived at home my senior year of college, I watched Show Me pretty much every day! I'll be sharing another idea for a quick and easy Valentine's manicure that you can do at home, especially if you don't have time to get to the salon. I've never been on TV before, so I'm super excited yet also quite nervous. I know I'll need to give myself extra time to get ready so I look presentable on y'all's screens... Please tune in!
