Mani Monday: Essie's Perfect Periwinkle

Okay, lovelies, I've just about had it with this winter. I'm so ready for spring. That doesn't mean I'll stop wearing lots of black, because that's just who I am... but I'm getting spring-ready elsewhere in my life. That includes my manis. I've had this gorgeous periwinkle shade (

Essie's Lapiz of Luxury

) for a while now, but I don't wear it much. I don't know why, because it's such a fun and flirty color!

And, oh hey, no surprise there's a party nail (or accent nail, depending on what you call yours)! This one, from Sinful Colors, looks so pinky-purple in the bottle, but comes out to be a beautiful silvery shimmer when applied atop another color. I know from experience, though, that when used on its own, Purple Diamond represents its bottle color quite well on the nails. The periwinkle took three coats as it applied very sheer, and the sparkle took two coats. You also probably know how much I adore Essie, so when I tell you this color took minimal cleanup, you should believe me!

Here's a secret: Seche Vite's Top Coat is a serious miracle worker. I'm not kidding. Look at those nails. Don't they look smooth to you? Well, right after I did them (without a top coat), I accidentally fell asleep on the couch all snuggled up with my pup. I woke up and had little wrinkles all through the polish. You know I wouldn't stand for that! However, I know the magic that lies in a bottle of Seche Vite. A heavy-handed application of that top coat was all it took to smooth out the appearance.

Are you ready for spring nails yet? Or are you holding onto your wintry shades?
