Your Trip to The West/Ain't a Trip to the Right
The day that my photographer Abby and I met up for our #STL66 photos (which you can see in this post here), it was slightly chilly and half-sunny, half-overcast. Aka, perfect fall weather. And perfect weather for rocking some of my witchiest garb. The title for this post even comes from one of my favorite Sloan songs - "Witch's Wand." Jay was pretty clever with that allusion to The Wizard Of Oz, and I thought it fit perfectly with this Southwestern-inspired poncho pattern and hat.
This split-sleeve and light as air dress comes from Kat's Closet, a local mobile boutique owned and operated by the sweetest young lady ever! You might recall a mention of Kat's Closet from this post in Lafayette Square Park. I love shopping at mobile boutiques because it's a more intimate experience than hitting the mall. Odds are the owner is the one driving the van, so you get to make a new friend who has hand-selected the items in the vehicle. It's a fun way to find new clothes! I also enjoy the fact that the website for Kat's Closet is easy to navigate and the "models" are normal young women. I love being able to see a clothing item on someone who has a body type more like mine!
Both the poncho and the hat were snatched up at a recent trip to Avalon Exchange. I saw this poncho and knew it needed to go home with me as I'd been on the hunt for one. What's funny is that the poncho is originally from maurices - where I worked for nearly two years! This belt was an amazing find at the STL Swap Meet, and my amazing earrings were custom-made for me by the darling Elle of Sahgol Jewelry here in St. Louis. My bracelet was handmade by a customer of mine while working at maurices, and I love how well it complements Elle's earrings!
These boots make me laugh, thought! I've had them for years and years. I bought them from some online Korean store I can't recall while in college, and I thought they were the coolest things since sliced bread. However, I just never felt like they fit my style then (lots of busted jeans and nasty t-shirts for this art kid). I kept them around and now have fallen in love with them.
