Mani Monday: Dark & Sparkly Like My Soul

Apologies for the late posting! I wasn't feeling very well last night and today, so it took me a while to finish writing this all up for you! If you've been chatting with me much lately, you'll know that I've turned into a bit of a sass monster. Mostly in a positive, upbeat way, but due to some recent life changes, I've been letting my inner diva out more and more. It can be fun to focus on getting to better understand your personality through interactions with others. You can learn a lot about yourself through different life direction shifts, and I'm currently learning that I can be a whole lot more sassy than I usually have allowed myself to be.

To me, being sassy can often mean exhibiting a more snarky sense of humor. I'm not trying to suggest that my sense of humor is now "mean," necessarily, but that it is definitely now  more goofy and snappy than it has been. This is part of getting to better know and understand myself. Being single after a long-term relationship has made me joke that I'm going to just turn into a heartbreaker and be single for an indeterminate period of time. I've always loved the black claw look for nails, and so when a friend asked what my next Monday Mani was going to be, I said, "Black just like my soul!"

Okay, so that's a lie. I'm not really in a dark place. I'm more in a spot of self-discovery, but a recent breakup always means shuffling through some loneliness and mild confusion. It's pretty obvious that a coping mechanism can be joking about what you're dealing with. So although I'm not feeling 100% super rad at this moment in time, I'm trying to focus on celebrating what makes me an awesome individual. One of my traits is that I can be annoyingly optimistic. This polish reminds me of my current state of mind: working through some personal "stuff," but still focusing on that good, sparkly bits.

Y'all know I love me some Zoya nail polish. This one came in a little gift set I received during a Secret Santa swap a couple years ago (Thanks, Suzie, you know me too well!). It is one of my all-time favorite sparkle polishes because the formula is flawless. Storm is a black, opaque polish with smooth, super finely milled holographic glitter. It's hard to tell in the photographs, but the glitter is rainbow. It appears mostly gold here, but if you get up close and personal in real life, it's gorgeous. The main reason I love the formula so much on Storm is that it is so smooth. After a top coat is applied, you can't even feel the glitter. That is a huge plus to me. The lasting power is pretty great as well. I think by now I've been wearing this polish for five days straight, and there's not a single chip!

Would you wear a sparkly black? Or go classic with a regular black creme?

Polishes Used:
Black with Sparkle: Zoya's Storm
Base and Top Coats: Seche Vite
