OOTD: Before & After Winter Yoga Classes
Good chilly afternoon, loves! After I barfed my feelings out all over the blog, let's get back to something a little less intense - clothes 'n things! This outfit post isn't just about pretty wearables, though. It's to also introduce you to a topic you'll be hearing more about: my January yoga bender experience! A yoga bender typically involves a student attending a class every single day during a month. I'm attending the annual bender that Southtown Yoga holds in January. Is it tough? Heck yes? Is it worth it? HELL YES. I can't wait to see my progress throughout the month.
In the meantime, our weather in STL finally seems to have turned to winter. It's chilly, and that makes looking cute while traveling to and from yoga a little tricky. During the week, I tend to go to class directly after work, so I arrive in my work clothes. But what about the weekend? You know I'm a huge brunch fiend. This means probably at least once a weekend, I'll either be coming from yoga to brunch, or brunching and then heading to yoga shortly after. Call me vain, but I try to never go "out in public" in workout clothes. They're for within gym eyes only! So how do I solve this dilemma of cramming multiple outfits into one?
For my bottom half, I alternate between wearing capri-length and ankle-length leggings. Obviously, ankle-length leggings are more appropriate for winter temperatures, so these cheap and comfy leggings do the trick. If you're fairly flexible, be warned these aren't 100% opaque if you bend over too far - but I tend to wear full coverage underwear in yoga anyway. Or, you can throw a pair of bicycle shorts underneath the leggings and take the leggings off when you arrive at yoga!
Because it's chilly, but class can get super hot as you work up a sweat, I like to throw an oversized sweater over the tank top I plan to wear in class. I spied this sweater on a sale rack in my local Anthropologie a couple weekends ago, and I've already worn it several times. The color is perfect for wintry weather, the length is just right for keeping your booty covered (I'm still on the fence about "leggings as pants"), and it's super snuggly and warm. Layer your favorite jacket over it - thickness depending on that day's temp - toss some boots on, and head on over to your studio!
I never thought I'd be one of those girls that wear a purse until it falls apart. And then, without even noticing, I became just that! My mom figured it out for me and said it was about damn time I updated my bag. I spied this delicious bag from BCBGeneration in a sale pile at Macy's on Black Friday. Why I turned into a one-bag lover is because I became picky. I have short arms, and I need to be able to reach into my bag. I prefer easy-access, so bucket bags fit the bill quite nicely. With it's cute mosaic front and just slightly off-neutral colors, this little cutie was meant for me.
Today marks day 6 of the yoga bender for me. I'll be writing weekly posts on my progress, so keep an eye out for that later this week!
Do you typically head to and from your exercise destination in your workout clothes?
