Tunes Tuesday: MØ

Who doesn't love a girl with attitude? I know that I'm a fan! Enter MØ (Karen Marie Ørsted), a young lady from Denmark. With her high pony that often gets whipped around, and her perpetual mild bitch face, MØ sashayed her way into my list of favorite female artists quite quickly. I particularly like her song and video for "Walk This Way," which you'll see below. Another thing I love about her is that she doesn't seem to strive for perfection - her vocals aren't totally polished, the music is a bit raucous, and feels like I really would have loved her during my teenage years. A little belated girl angst ain't that bad, is it?

I went to an all-girls school, and although this video has so very little to do with it (besides it featuring all girls), I'm always drawn to that theme. Power in numbers, power in femininity! I also totally need a pleated black skirt and MØ's sweatshirt-skirt outfit.

MØ recently won four Danish Music Awards, including record of the year. It's not a surprise to find that big names already established in the music industry are working with her. For instance, XXX was done with Diplo (below). I am always a sucker for weirdoes, and MØ jumping around with pure abandon and not caring about not dancing sexy-like is up my alley.
