Mani Monday: Mineral Fusion "Nickle&Dime"
A few weeks ago, I was invited to take a tour of my local Whole Foods store, which I still need to download the photos from my camera and write about! It was a fun experience, and I was able to try various food offerings from the store, and get to better know how the company operates. While poking through the beauty and body care aisle, I spied this polish line, and mentioned to our host that I am a huge polish fan and write about it on the blog. She offered to allow us to choose a polish and take it home with us! The polish I picked up that day was actually different than this one - I haven't had a chance to blog about that one yet! When I went back a couple weeks later to do my own shopping, I picked up this pretty little shimmer.
Name "Nickle & Dime," this color from the brand Mineral Fusion just became one of my all-time favorites. It's punchy without being in your face, and really seems to help accessorize any look because it's somewhat of a neutral. I think of shades like this as fitting into a "subtle glamor" category. I was also pleased to find out that Mineral Fusion's nail polish is vegan and free of many of the harmful chemicals many nail polish brands still use. And at a price tag of $7.99, you're not even breaking the bank!
I applied this polish on a Tuesday afternoon, and I found the application easy and clean. I used three full coats of "Nickle & Dime" just to ensure that the polish was fully opaque on my nails. Sometimes with shimmer it can be difficult to spy streaking right away with only two coats. I do have to say that although I used both my Seche Vite base and top coats, "Nickle & Dime" succumbed to some pretty significant chipping by Friday evening. With many of my other polish brands, I don't see large chips until nearly 7 days. When I removed the polish yesterday, it was quick and painless. This leads me to suggest that this polish might be best for weekend wear, or for events. With quick and effective application and removal, but no serious lasting power, I'll keep it around for specific looks and fun nights out, but I won't count on longevity.
Have you tried any other vegan beauty products lately you were excited about? Let me know!
