#TBT: Stripes at the Thaxton Speakeasy
Back in December, I attended the Midwest Influencer Network's holiday party at local hot spot, the Thaxton Speakeasy. I've been all over the place and just have fallen behind in posting older photos, like these! My apologies to my new photographer friend, Phoebe Landrum, who joined me at the party for some fun shots around the Thaxton. It's one of those really cool joints in the city that operates as a nightclub, wedding venue, events space, and more, and has some pretty great architectural elements.
I love being able to attend events that the MWIN puts on outside of Saint Louis Fashion Week, because it means I get to spend time with my blogger babe friends! During STLFW we're so busy running to shows, snapping photos, and trying to find ways to survive without sleep or food, that we barely have time to visit and catch up. Pictured with me above are two of the sweetest little ladies in STL: Yawmin (left) of Bangles & Bungalows, and Marisa (middle) of STL marketing prowess and also Vogue Rhythm.
To be perfectly honest, one of the reasons I've taken so long to post these photos has somewhat to do with the fact that when I look at them, I can fully comprehend the end product of my weight gain from the fall and winter. I especially see it in my face, and I can remember feeling frumpy that night, even though I do think this is a very cute outfit. That's what really was the turning point for me in realizing I needed to stop sitting on the couch every night drinking half a bottle of wine and get back to any form of exercise possible. I just actually physically felt blah. And you know I have made a change - in January I did the yoga bender. This week, I've started a mini Zumba bender. And I can already tell that I feel better. I'm not really focused on losing a number of pounds. It's about feeling comfortable in my skin again. I'm well on the way, and I'm very happy about it!
Thanks to Phoebe for being patient with me posting her photos! And thanks to the Thaxton Speakeasy for showing us around and allowing us to take some fun shots on the upper levels of the building. My friend Julia bartends at Thaxton, and some of my DJ buddies spin there frequently, so I really need to get back soon!
